Themes

Book themes determine the visual aspect of each of your digital content created by Hugo. Your themes are interchangeable. You can change themes at any time during the creation of your masterpiece.

  1. Open an existing book.
  2. Click on “Change The Theme” in the “Edition” menu.
  3. The “Change The Theme” modal window will be displayed.
  4. Select a new theme to apply by clicking on the “Choose” button underneath.
    • If no theme is suitable, go to the Theme Shop by clicking on “Check The Store”, to add one to your favorites.

Images

Each one of your books has its own image library. Here are the six (6) possible actions:

  1. Place your mouse at the center of the interface exactly where you want to insert an image.
  2. Click on the “ImageToolbar” icon.
  3. Click on the “Insert an Image” button.
  4. Select an image from your computer.
    • Accepted formats are: “.jpeg”, “.jpg”, “.png”, “.gif”, and “.svg”.
  5. Click on the “Open” button.
    • The image has been inserted in your book.
    • The image has also been added to your image library.
  1. Click on the “Image Toolbar” icon.
  2. Click on “Image Library”.
  3. The “Image Library” modal window will be displayed.
  4. Select an image from your computer.
    • Accepted formats are: “.jpeg”, “.jpg”, “.png”, “.gif”, and “.svg”.
  5. Click on the “Open” button.
    • The image has been added to your image library.
  1. Place your mouse at the center of the interface exactly where you want to insert an image.
  2. Click on the “Image Library” icon.
  3. Select an image.
  4. Click on the “Insert” button.
    • The image has been inserted in your book.
  1. Click on the image without releasing the button.
  2. Move the image to the desired location.
  3. Release the mouse button.
  1. At the center of the interface, select the image you wish to delete.
  2. By using your keyboard, press on “Delete”.
    • The image has been deleted but remains available in your “Image Library”.
  1. Click on the “Image Library” icon.
  2. The “Image Library” modal window will be displayed.
  3. Select an image.
  4. Click on “Delete”.
    • The deleted images from the “Image Library” have also been deleted in the entire document.

Book Cover

To manage the book cover of your digital book, go to the “Chapter Toolbar” located on the left of the Hugo editor. It is represented by an open book icon.

  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Under the “Chapter” header, click on “Cover”.
  3. Click on “Add an image” in the center of the Hugo application.
  4. The “Image Library” modal window will be displayed.
    • Select an image from your library or
    • Click on “Import an Image” to add one to your library.
  5. Click on “Insert”.
  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Under the “Chapter” header, click on “Cover”.
  3. On the right of the word “Cover”, click on the “Edit” icon represented by a pen.
  4. The “Image Library” modal window will be displayed.
    • Select an image from your library or
    • Click on “Import an Image” to add one to your library.
  5. Click on “Insert”.
  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Under the “Chapter” header, click on “Cover”.
  3. On the right of the word “Cover, click on the “Edit” icon represented by a bin.
  4. The modal window “Please Confirm” will be displayed.
  5. Click on the “Yes” button to confirm and delete the book cover.
    • The image for the book cover will be kept in your library.

Chapters

You can manage the chapters of your digital book under “Chapter Toolbar” on the left of the Hugo editor. It is represented by an open book icon.

  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Click on the “Add” icon, represented by the “+” sign.
  3. Enter the name of your new chapter.
  4. Click on “Ok”.
  1. Place your mouse at the exact position where you want to split your chapter.
  2. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  3. Click on the “Divide” icon at the bottom of the “Chapter Toolbar”.
  4. The modal window “Please Confirm” will be displayed.
  5. Click on “Ok”.
  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Select the chapters you want to merge by clicking on the checkboxes on the left.
  3. Click on the “Merge” icon at the bottom of the “Chapter Toolbar”.
  4. The modal window “Please Confirm” will be displayed.
  5. Clic on «Ok».
  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Click once on the chapter to rename.
  3. Click a second time on the chapter.
  4. The name field of the chapter will become highlighted and may be edited.
  5. Enter a new name for your chapter.
  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Click on the handles of the chapter you want to move, on the left of the checkboxes.
  3. Move the chapter from top to bottom.
  4. Release the mouse button.
  1. Click on the “Chapter Toolbar” icon.
  2. Using the checkboxes, select the chapters you want to delete.
  3. At the bottom of the “Chapter Toolbar”, click on the “Delete” icon, represented by a bin.
  4. The modal window “Please Confirm” will be displayed.
  5. Click on the “Yes” button to confirm the action.
    • If you select all chapters, a new one will be created.

Table of content

The table of content is located at the left of the Hugo editor in the “Table of Content Toolbar” It is represented by a list of items icon.

  1. Click on the “Table of Content Toolbar” icon.

To create a unique experience, we asked Hugo to do this for you! Your table of content will be automatically generated every time a section header (title) is added.

  1. Position your mouse on a textual element, at the center of the interface.
  2. Click on the “Text Toolbar” icon represented by a “T”, at the right of the interface.
  3. Expand the “Styles” subsection.
  4. Click on the title style of your choice.
    • Each title element is labeled “h” in a gray square. For example:
      • “h1” for a first level title
      • “h3” for a third level title
  1. Option 1: Delete text and include a title.
  2. Option 2: Select a title and change its style to normal.
